To continue making the most of my time off work I went to Paris for New Year’s Eve.
We took the Eurostar again and was there in no time, even with the delays that they are currently having, it’s definately the best way to travel. It was absolutly freezing in Paris which made sight seeing difficult but we saw the main attractions even with it snowing on one day.
The Eiffle Tower was an amazing sight, everyone knows it iconic shape but it’s totally different seeing it as a constant back drop while walking around the city. Some of the best photos I got at night from the bottom of the tower as you can see above, I am so glad I bought another good camera for such events.
The Arc De Triumph was also spectacular, it reminded me of the Brandonburg Gates in Berlin, again the night shots were the best.
On New Year’s Eve I found a seafood Market around the corner from our hotel and bought some massive prawns and a 6 pack of Coronas …lovely! That night we had a restaurant booked across the river from the Eiffle Tower and just before midnight we went outside to watch the fireworks, unfortunately the only fireworks were those lit by the bloke next to me but the tower lit up which was good enough.
The last day was really really cold with dense fog so we didn’t get much done, I think I might go back for a weekend in Summer this year, just need to start saving now, Paris us the most expensive place I have been in all of Europe – €12 for a pint in some places!!!

This Christmas as I was away from my family for the first time I decided to go to Bruge in Belgium. I had been to Brussels before and thought it was okay but after seeing the Colin Farrell film ‘In Bruge’ I thought I had to check it out.
The place was great, we got a good hotel room and the location was superb, right next to the main square. The first day we went Ice-Skating and to the Ice Sculptures (which had an ice bar and it didn’t cost much at all).
It wasn’t too cold the first day but from Xmas day onwards it was freezing!
I did a lot of drinking and eating as usual around Christmas, there was a pub that had over 100 types of beers and each one was served in it’s own type of glass …fantastic! Christmas day was good, did some exploring and took some good photos as most places were shut, then had an awesome 7 course Christmas dinner.
On the last day we left early and went back to Brussels so I could get some better photos with my new camera.

My insurance money finally came back over the holidays after being robbed way back in September, talk about efficiency! So I went out and replaced the stolen 300D with a brand new Canon 450D with a 15-55mm IS and 70-300mm IS lens.
The new model is way better than the old one with double the Mega-Pixels and way more features, best of all the camera and lens cost the same as the original buy price on the one that was stolen.
I will add more photos to my gallery section soon, I think I might redo that section too.
