The building from the street

Last Thursday I finally moved house from Willesden Green, North London out to Woking, Surrey where I work and I couldn’t be happier.

A friend from work helped me moved most my stuff in his car but I had to take a suitcase on the train (where did all this junk come from?) so on Thursday I managed to get the new keys and after work moved in.

A proper sized fridge and a FREEZER!!!

So much better having carpet in the house and not just in the bathroom. The place even has Sky TV…working….and free!

So after some exporing, a couple of nights of drinking and an overall very relaxing long weekend it’s back to work today. Luckily it’s only a few minutes down the street now. What will I do will the 3hrs a day extra I now have???

Not much really!

Getting excited about moving in a couple of weeks, getting out of London and out to Woking where I work. Got a much better place for a lot cheaper and will be saving almost 3hrs every day in travel…so yeah pretty excited.

I went to ‘The Comedy Store’ last night at Piccadilly Circus, not really for comic relief but it was the same night so I like to think it counted in some way.

Next weekend I am off to Spain for someone from work’s stag do weekend, they are quite more elaborate over this side of the world, generally entire weekends in another country. I can’t remember exactly where in Spain we are going but  it should be a blast.

For those of you that care (or have noticed the messages on the right side side of this screen updating) I am now using Twitter a fair bit for my general updates and will try to keep these blogs a little more topical rather then general ramblings such as this.

This is my London Travelcard, it get’s me to and from work each day and gives me unlimited travel on the London Underground so that I can get from my house to the Waterloo…where my train to work leaves from.

It cost me £277.70 or $568.81 Australian Dollars! So it’s currently my most prized possession.

Work has been pretty good lately, been doing heaps of design work and am currently working on a new version of one of our sites and my boss has started teaching me Linux, PHP, and SQL

Looking for some new hosting too at the moment, got the latest hosting bill and it’s just too expensive for what I am getting (Australian hosting is just expensive) so I will be moving to either a US or UK host before the end of the month. Hopefully no one will notice any changes and thus have no problems but if you do let me know. Damo, Martin, Justin and Mum you all have email with me but if all goes to plan I wont need to do anything.

This is a Northern Territory Barramundi that my Dad caught a few weeks ago whilst on a fishing trip. It was 1.16M long and must have weighed a tonne. Not the record but from what I hear pretty close.
This weekend I am going to the London O2 Festival which should be good, no Amy Winehouse but Counting Crows, Powderfinger and my favourite Jay-Z will be there.

So I’ve been back here in London for a couple of weeks now trying to get settled in, get a place to live and find myself some work.

I got myself a nice new laptop (Samsung R700) so that I can keep blogging, do some work and take advantage of the free wireless in my new place, that’s right I also found somewhere to live
It’s a studio apartment in a share building so to speak, most the places in London are like this (where they convert a house into a heap of separate rooms. It’s good cause I have my own kitchen and bathroom too, but get to meet people as well.

Unfortunately I am still looking for work, hanging out for a good job I think, I have an interview tomorrow so I hope that goes well. If not I think I will just have to bite the bullet and take a shit job until I can find something better.

I did a little sight seeing when I first arrived as you can see above I visited the Buckingham Palace during the changing of the guards, that was pretty sweet….loads of people and it took forever.
I also checked out London bridge and the London tower which were also really nice. Once I get a job and some money I will check out the things that cost like Madame Tussards, The London Dungeon & The London Eye.

All in all I am still having a good time here, it reminds me a lot of Melbourne but that’s properly just the weather…totally need new clothes once I get a job too.

Leyton is sending me a HDD with TV shows and movies I have missed so I am really excited about that because going to the cinema here costs a friggen fortune!

Well that’s it for now, I know I have said this a lot but I will try to blog more often….I know it will make my Mum happy

Last night I was driving home in the rain and lost control on a bend in the road. I tried to brake and then accelerate out of the slide but there was just nothing to grip onto and the car slid straight off the road. Don’t really remember what exactly happened next as it was all too fast but i smashed into a heap of trees on the side of the road and came to a stop backwards just touching a fence. That fence was blocking off a massive drop down an embankment.

I jumped out quickly without a scratch on me but my baby was totaled. My insurance should consider it a write-off which is what I am hoping for because my excess is $1250 and I can’t really spare that just before xmas.

Umm I’ve been back a couple of weeks now, first week was good just to relax after the pretty full on trip (as you can see by the NZ entries). I had my job interview/meeting 2 Friday’s ago and all went well for me to start the Monday week, I was kinda glad because I was enjoying my holiday life and needed another week to get use to getting up early.

So by lunchtime on Monday I was officially over my holidays….I was soo freaking bored I made myself some party finger food (biscuits, olives, ham and cheese), cracked open a bourbon and watched a cooking show….definitely time to go back to work. So I guess Tyrone must have been in-tune because he called that afternoon and asked if I could start on Wednesday….WoooHoo!

The new job is awesome, heaps more challenging then my last job with loads more opportunities so I am extremely happy…having money coming in again instead of just going out is a plus too.

HBO has released a cross media new show/experience called “Voyeur”, it’s a series of concurrent events all shot in silence from a voyeur’s perspective. They have released a teaser trailer (above) for the new show that will coincide with the current site here and building projections.

The great thing is that they have developed “Character Artifacts” in the way of distributed print media, exclusive mobile content {very 3 mobile big brother esk}, online “character” blogs and sites that give you clues about what is going on….it’s a treasure hunt that will immerse the viewers the the whole “Voyeur” experience.

I’m a little bummed that we wont get the whole experience here in Australia but thanks to YouTube and the web we should be able to keep up.

Well I have been putting in a lot on long hours at “The Office” lately and I have almost finished “The Godfather” game on XBOX.

This game is one of the best games I have ever played, it’s like a mafia GTA

Matt and I started playing it last year, I was playing on PC and he was playing on XBOX, it’s been about 7-8 months now and we are finally back into it. Matt’s mate Doug is also playing at home on PS2….so it’s a race to see who will finish first. {I think I might have an unfair advantage though, not working and all}

EA have also released this game on XBOX360, Wii and now PS3 with a heap of new features and game play options….I watched a video of the Wii version and I think I’ll give it a burl once I finish the XBOX version, however I really really want to get it on XBOX360 so I will be ready for GTA: IV in October.

  

Almost got pulled over by one of these last night!
…On my way home from seeing ‘Blades Of Glory’ last night I overtook a sporty new Toyota Aurion and as I pulled away it’s dash lit up with blue and red, I thought I was done for.

I was only doing about 6 or 7 Km’s over the limit so I quickly pulled back to 60 and sat on it….they didn’t flash again or hit the siren so I just kept driving….they followed me for about 5mins but then turned off. I was freakying lucky!

Anyhow I was just surprised they the COPS now have these cool new cars….I’m quite impressed as I a absolutely hate the commonwhores they usually drive.

Tonight Justy, Matt and I got to see the special advanced media screening of “Transformers” at the South Bank Cinemas.
All I can say is it’s fucking insane!
…..so much better then I thought it was going to be, and I was really looking forward to it too!

The effects are fantastic….so realistic, makes you really think it’s possible for the transformations to happen.
The storyline and dialogue is also great and doesn’t fall aside like in some of the other ‘blockbusters’ that have come out recently. A fair amount of unexpected comedy is also in the film

Everyone should go and see this one!

I found cheap ski gloves for $9.95 each so I bought Matt a pair as well, then I tried to get some ‘Ugg Boots’ but they had sold out! So I went to KMart at Wynnum and they had also completely ’sold out’…which I shouldn’t be surprised about due to the enormous bogan levels in Wynnum.

I also found a cool 288 sleeve CD wallet which I bought so all the spindles of DVDs lying around had a home.

Tuesday I was up at freaking 6am {still dark!}, we had to be up early to drive to Milton and then to Ipswich to watch Matt’s brother play Rugby, he is down for the week on a school comp. It was pretty good to watch but it rained non stop and I only had a jumper on…nothing waterproof

Today I pushed my sleep-in for this holiday to 2pm because of the early start yesterday!
I messed about on the computer a little and then resumed my game of “The Godfather” on XBOX….I ducked out to get some sushi quickly but the whole day consisted of Sleeping and XBOX.

BTW each day ended with me drinking :-S

What to say?

I expected more…not to say it was bad, I guess I was just hoping for a better series finale. The ending has upset a lot of people and I must say I thought the download was cut short, 6 seconds of black screen without audio kinda freaked me out, I had to quickly jump online to make sure it hadn’t cut out.

At any rate I had a read through a couple of forums and found out an explanation of the ending and it was actually pretty good, not something you usually see from the show but acceptable no the less.

There is a rumour that they are planning a ‘Sopranos’ movie, which would be a great ending but I can’t see them doing that….it is HBO after all.

I am now ripping and watching “Six Feet Under” as my housemate has all the seasons on DVD.

Last night was the 2nd last episode of “The Sopranos”…..and it was freaky awesome!

I really cant wait until the final episode, a little sad that the series is finishing but I think it needs to go out with a bang like all HBO series.

I have also decided to go back and watch “Six Feet Under” and I only just realised it is also an HBO production

The two brothers have gone onto make their own cool shows {Dexter & The Lost Room} which I have also just watched. A+

They make some fantastic shows….without a doubt the best.

Friday Night:
I picked up my friend Matt and we went to the bottle-o and decided that a carton of vodka cruisers would be the best way to end the week, in my infieniet wisdom decided on getting the “blacks” which ironically is actually a strong “white” or clear flavour….who would have thought. This way we could buy red and green cordial and make our own mixes thus giving us 3 flavours for the price of 1.
….that ended badly, vodka girl drinks are not fun after you have had more than 6 in a row because I think the pain in my chest was from the type 2 diabetes kicking in rather than the alcohol. :S

Saturday:
After a late rise I realised I only had 15mins of “off-peak” downloads to get lost and veronica mars as my downloads during “peak” time had been capped…..Just made it.
The day then followed by a visit to Bunning’s and AMart All Sport. It was time to upgrade the single 18Kg dumbell I have been using to a new curl bar and some fancy 15Kg Plates…BooYA!

Then hit the gym to pump some iron….I got 2 memberships running so I better use at least one, right?

We were meant to go and see Carlton play down the coast but Matt wasn’t feeling well so we went out and bought a carton of Corona’s and had Thai for dinner.
Leyton then msg’d me at random intervals during the night to prove how “drunk” he was….sure sure mate, didn’t believe it for 1 second.

Sunday:
Sunday was prety much a write-off….I downloaded a cool game I used to play when I was younger “fallout 2″….played that for ages, cleaned the house {mainly my bathroom} and then did some shopping.

Then it was time for my Mexicana Spectacular…….which was really just tacos and fajitas, with 2 jugs of my homemade Sangria!

So that’s it….dunno if this blog is going to be funny or what yet…reading this back it seems kinda boring, maybe too much detail.
I’m sure I’ll get better with practice.
