One Berliner please.

Well it’s been awhile since my last post, mainly because I was soo busy in Berlin.

Stayed at a brand new hotel whilst in Berlin as they were having an opening special and I couldn’t resit the thought of some luxury, I had a flat screen TV, big bed, own toilet and shower and it was cheaper then the hostels!!!
So as you can imagine I spent a fair amount of time just relaxing in the room but I soon got bored of that and went exploring.

Berlin has soo much history and the city as you could imagine is spilt in to 2 city sections, East and West because of the wall. I was staying on the West side which was pretty crappy and had loads of development going on, so I caught a U-Bahn over to the other side and was very impressed. This is where all the major buildings, shopping centres and historical sites were. The first night I had Mexican from the West, the food was OK even though I didn’t really know what I was ordering as it was all in German.

Berlin is a pretty damn confusing place so I jumped on a tour bus to see the sights as there were just too many, the architecture there was amazing and I got to see the wall (only a small section is left), Checkpoint Charlie, the Brandenburg Gates, and a Jewish memorial. All in all a busy day.
This sounds pretty bad but the highlight of my day would have been the Bugatti store in Berlin that had a ‘Bugatti Vayron’ in the window…what a dream.

So I am in Prague now, arrived yesterday.
It’s a lot warmer here so that is good, might even crack out the boardies later on. I will post more once I start doing some exploring.

(By the way, click the top picture to see my Berlin photos- I’ll do this for each post from now on)

Red light District

It’s Damo’s heaven, no doubt about it! :-D

So last night me and some guys from the hostel went over to the ‘Red Light District’ after many beers. It was packed….manly with tour groups and strangely loads of old people. The pros in the windows advertising themselves was properly the most full on thing, very bizarre. We decided to check out the ‘Cassa Rosa – Live Sex Show’, it cost 30Euro but was something I couldn’t miss coming all the way to Amsterdam. The show itself was pretty lame but a couple of “acts” were pretty funny when they got people up on stage from the audience. Just before we left they called over the PA for all Contiki guests to leave as your bus is out the front and seriously 80% of the room left.

After that we headed to a ‘Coffee Shop’ and I had some ‘SpaceCake’, thought it would be good to try as there is no way I was smoking anything. Anyways the cake was pretty lame and although yeah it did mess us up abit it kinda reminded me why I don’t smoke dope.

The best part of the night would have been hooking up with a chick from another hostels one of the guys was staying at. Don’t really remember a whole lot other then she was Dutch and pretty hot. :-D

Head off to Berlin in the morning which is a 6hr train ride, dunno if I will stay there long, guess it depends on the people and how much there is to do there. Prague is after that which I am really looking forward to….as it’s tonnes cheaper then Amsterdam and I am burning through cash pretty quickly.

Enjoy the photos…

Amsterdam

Arrived in Amsterdam a few days ago, it’s even colder here but they speak Dutch & English so it’s been a lot easier getting around & ordering food.

Have decided to send my backpack back home and buy a port with wheels and a handle as the backpack is clearly waaay over-packed still and it’s just too heavy and awkward to carry around…especially on the trams.

Yesterday turned out to be a complete cluster-fuck as the camera battery went flat and I realised I left the charged in London!!!
I had to go to a few different camera shops but eventually got a universal charger, however I left that on charge all night and the battery was still flat. I went back to the shop and we came to the conclusion that the battery was fried and they didn’t have any replacements in stock.
3 more camera shops and many hours later I finally found a non-branded one for 50 Euro!
It’s on charge now so I’ll see how I go.

Asides from that Amsterdam has been really good and I am extending my stay here until Monday. Everyone is really nice and chilled out but that could just be all the legal dope around….seriously there are “Coffee Shops” everywhere and the faint smell is always in the air.

The most amazing thing would have to be all the bicycles around….everyone rides a bike!
Took some crazy photos so you all can see what I mean. The guide book says there is 600,000 bikes in Amsterdam but I think more.

I will be checking out the “Red Light District” this weekend so will probably have loads to say about that, but as ”Your camera will be taken and smashed” I doubt I will get any photos.

Brussels

…where else would you find these 3 things in a shop together?

Belgium of course, specifically Brussels.

I left London early Monday morning to catch the 6am Eurostar to Brussels, the trip was great and a lot faster then I imagined. This is my first non English and I would have to say it was a little daunting, first up I got stuck on the Metro at the end of the line cause I didn’t understand the announcement. All was OK after that though as the train continued on I eventually got to the hotel.

Not a whole lot to see here in Brussels, the place is beautiful but not very big. I studied my phrase book a little last night so my French is a little better today.

Excusez-moi, Parlez-vous anglais?

That appears to be the secret here, if you can ask them politely, excuse me do you speak English? then most people will say yes or yes, a little :D

I will try and work out the photo galleries soon as this computer is a little gay. Above is picture of me and a street performer near the Grand Palace.

Amsterdam tomorrow and free internet at the hostel so I should be able to write more.

How expensive is…

Hey yall!

Thought I would leave another post before I head off to Brussels, Belgium tomorrow on the Eurostar!

Been here a few days now, went to my ‘Kickstart London’ meeting and got my UK bank account and sim card setup as-well as registering with a job agency. Ended up having to store my excess baggage at a storage centre near Kings-cross Station as all the lockers were only for 24-48hrs and cost a bundle.

Anyhow managed to get into the city finally yesterday and it’s what I imagined London to be like, a lot busyier then where I have been staying. Went to a massive sports store and got an awesome Lonsdale jacket for only £14.

Enjoy the photos, I will see more of the sights of London once I get back from my Eurotrip and start earning some GBP.

Anyhows I am off, my next post will come from Brussels or Bruges whilst I am exploring all that Belgium has to offer.
