Xmas In Bruge
Written on Jan 04, 2009 // EuroTrip //
This Christmas as I was away from my family for the first time I decided to go to Bruge in Belgium. I had been to Brussels before and thought it was okay but after seeing the Colin Farrell film ‘In Bruge’ I thought I had to check it out.
The place was great, we got a good hotel room and the location was superb, right next to the main square. The first day we went Ice-Skating and to the Ice Sculptures (which had an ice bar and it didn’t cost much at all).
It wasn’t too cold the first day but from Xmas day onwards it was freezing!
I did a lot of drinking and eating as usual around Christmas, there was a pub that had over 100 types of beers and each one was served in it’s own type of glass …fantastic! Christmas day was good, did some exploring and took some good photos as most places were shut, then had an awesome 7 course Christmas dinner.
On the last day we left early and went back to Brussels so I could get some better photos with my new camera.

My girlfriend and I were thinking of spending this Christmas in Bruge. One question — if most places were shut on Christmas, where did you have the fantastic seven course meal?
My biggest concern is spending Christmas looking at the walls of our hotel room…
Just the tourist places were shut (Bell tower, Museum, etc), I believe all the Bars and Restaurants opened at 12pm. It was really busy in the town centre from lunch on wards, you’ll have plenty to do.
Cheers
