Arrived in Prague last Wednesday and was pretty damn scared when I got off the train as the station look derelict like it hadn’t changed since the Cold War. There were people everywhere trying to offer me cheap accommodation and all the signs were in Czech, but I got through it and caught a cab to the apartment I had booked. To my surprise (stupidity for not checking) they did’t use Euro there but lucky the cab driver accepted it anyway.
The apartment was pretty good, I was looking forward to cooking my own food and saving some money, the TV was slightly better as they had discovery channel so all in all a nice find.
Things were cheaper in Prague which I why I think the place was packed with tourists, many on hens nights, birthdays or boys weekends…mainly English and Irish.
Didn’t do a whole lot, spent an entire day walking around. Up a mountain that looked over Prague and over to all the castles which was pretty amazing. I was lucky enough to see the changing of the guards (yeah they have that in Prague too) which was a bonus but then it was time for some afternoon beers.
One thing I noticed was that the Czech Rep so far is kicking Germany’s ass on availability of sausages, seriously there is a stand on every corner of the street selling them in Prague (20 in the main street alone).
Spent 4 nights in Prague mainly just chilling out and going for walks, on the day I left I had to go to a different train station (their main one) and was surprised by junkies booting up in the toilets right in front of everyone….I am sure the woman on the door taking the money was in on it too. After a long session of disinfecting my hands I got on the train to Munich and settled in for the 7hr trip.
